I thought I would tell visitors a little about myself and how I got started in photography.  I started photography in my own home with my own darkroom at age 15.  By the time I got to college; I had taken all of their photo classes, I had been the yearbook photographer, newspaper photographer, and won several awards at the county fair.  I guess, I had a pretty big head for someone who was only 19 years old.

The first year I went to college, the head of the school's Art Department looked over my portfolio and said, "You know what your problem is?"

     I shook my head.

With great seriousness in his voice this wise man stated, "Your problem is that you've been told you were good."

Being the typical teenager, I replied, "And why is that a problem?"

"Well young man, you've been told that you were good by people who have no idea what good really is.  Now . . ." He winked at me, then continued, "I want to teach you how to become considered good, by those of us who DO know what it means to be good."

This is the man who got me into art.  He changed the course of my life, just as I would like to do for you.  I do not share this story to brag, only to point out, that if you really want to improve your work, first you have to be humble.

After that . . . you might want to check out my:
